Title about says it all. The Haunted House was open Monday, October 29, from 3:30-6.
We spent 3 1/2 days building it to be open for those 2 1/2 hours!

At the wheel of the ghost ship Almaden: Kevin as the Pirate Captain in the Pirate Room (last chamber) of the 2007 ARC Haunted House
The flash, of course washes out the atmosphere, and this was shot after 2 1/2 hours of demanding that boarders "deliver the password!", which is why I look a bit pooped.
That's a real ships wheel; it weighs about 60 pounds. I built a support frame for it so the wheel spins properly; a few of the kids were brave enough to "steer the ship" for me. |

Everybody needs a revolving bookcase...
The first chamber in our Haunted House was the Count's Haunted Library. Everybody had to listen to a spooky story, and then the Count asked the kids to "press on the book with two rubies"
I'm very proud of the door; it's 9 feet tall, foamcore on a wooden frame, and it's balanced well enough so a 3- or 4-year old could open it easily by pushing on the book. |
