TaDa! Saint George Spirits Special Forces Uniform Jackets

These are bad camera-phone pictures, but the patches, they are finished and sewn on.

OK, it's a bad camera-phone shot, but here are [livejournal.com profile] bovil and my SGSSF TAC Squad 21 uniform tops, showing the right sleeve insignia (the bar across the TAC squad badge is actually orange with three white dots, remember). Andy's is the shirt with the thistle-shaped whiskey glass branch of service, mine is the one with the up glass and twist.

And here is the left shoulder of [livejournal.com profile] bovil's shirt, showing the SGSSF patch

*looks*

Hm.

Drat.

I think the "women's auxiliary" is going to be quite different as I think I've bought *light grey* BDUs. Dammit, I knew I should have taken a color swatch with me to the store. I fixated on "gray" and note the shade, per se. Damn, damn, damn.

But *your* uniforms look good!

No prob. I have all your patches ready and the matching velcro in the pocket of my shirt.

If you like it enough, you can order the dark grey from Propper and all you have to do is sew the velcro patches.

I got the canteen cover cut down and resewn, too :-)

It's nice to see uniform costuming finally getting the respect it deserves. 'Twastn't always the case...

I love it, they look great! Did you get the berets in the end?

[identity profile] kproche.livejournal.com 2007-02-14 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, we did get berets, with the blue flash on it.

We have horrible little martini glass pins to put on the flash :-)

Lookin good! What did you use/how did you make the patches? *curious*

They are printed on Avery InkJet Printable Iron-on Fabric.

I bought diecut velcro from nametags4u.com. Cut out the prints, ironed them onto the velcro, then edge stitched them (because I know the iron-on adhesive will peel off the velcro), and finally satin stitched all the way around over the edge stitching.

I'm doing the artwork in CorelDRAW X3, which came with an "embroidery effect," so I could make the prints look like they were actually embroidered patches.
