You can set your Facebook to 'hidden' so that nobody can find you- you have to "friend" the people you want to see you. Otherwise, no one knows you're "lurking"!

I find Facebook a valuable tool when it comes to pictures as when someone 'tags' you in a picture, it automatically shows up in your photo album so you don't have to go hunting for it.

I block all applications (except keeping an on-line pet) so I'm not stuck playing games all day. :p

FWIW, Facebook was how I found out my grandfather was so sick; a friend of the family posted about it. All the annoyances I ever had with Facebook paled in comparison for me to be able to get in touch with my family and be there when my grandfather passed.

Edit: Also: Facebook is rather private: Nobody can see any information about you that you do not want them to see. For example, visitors to my profile will only see one picture and a list of who I have Friended (and if I wanted to, I could even change that). You don't need to worry about mass "friending".

It wants a freakin' first and last name!!! I don't USE those online - anywhere!!!

(Call me paranoid, but I made the decision to use images and NOT real names online ages ago. And yes, I HAVE been threatened by weapons-happy Neo-Nazis online - on Cosplay.com, in fact.)

Use Karisu Sama as your first and last names... I know plenty of people who have done something similar.
