Costume-Con 26 Hotel Update

Last night the Costume-Con 26 Facilities Liason informed me that we appear to be a GO for the final weekend of April 2008 at the San Jose Doubletree Hotel.

That would be April 25-27, 2008, plus or minus a day or so once we finish the contract discussions.

Contract negotiations, of course, can go awry, but barring any wildly unforeseen complications we will be announcing rates and opening registration Memorial Day weekend.

Hoorah!

Chair, Costume-Con 26

Good weekend yay! Thanks for not planning it over the ten billion other events I want to go to.. ;)

This was always our target weekend... It's not Easter, it's the end of Passover, it's not Memorial Day weekend.

It's also when [livejournal.com profile] ladycelia and I always used to do our events for GBACG (http://www.gbacg.org)

Reminder to who ever is in charge of Munchies at various con events, must have Passover friendly munchies. At this point in Passover, it can be simple as making sure there is Matzo on a separate plate (or still in their box) near the crackers. And throw away plates (so that we will know that they haven't touched anything not for Passover). Though I do know some great desert recipes if one is interested.

And actually, I don't keep kosher or kosher for Passover, but I am Jewish and know the rules and have had to do con spreads during Passover in the past.

That would be me, and don't worry...I've got most of that covered from previous experience.

YES!!

BTW, get the sliding scale room night/usage fee structure on the contract. Doubletree "forgot" to mention that option when I was staffing a very green con (none of us had ever run a con before, oops) and we got screwed. Had we known we could have signed off on an option to sell half as many room nights (a number we made) or owed twice as much money for the space, well... the con wouldn't have lost quite so spectacularly much... *shudder*

But I bet I'm preaching to the choir, right? ;)

And you betcha bootie I'll be registering. :)
