In 10 days [livejournal.com profile] bovil and I will be attending the Imperial Royal Lion Monarchy, Inc. of San Jose Coronation 38 Ball on March 8 at 5pm.

(If you aren't aware, I served as Emperor 34 of the IRLM and hence am "Imperial Family").

We will be "walking" (announced and presented to the outgoing Monarchs) as the UnConventional Foundation and Costume-Con 26, and having lots of fun using titles inspired by our League of Evil Geniuses theme.

If you are interested in attending and walking with us, you can buy tickets via PayPal directly from http://www.irlm.org/coronation.htm ; they are $45 each and include a hors d'oevres buffet. (Look for the Coronation 38 button on the right just below the masthead. Don't let the site injure your retinas.)

I'd like to have enough folks with us to fill a table of ten; they aren't requiring that I buy the entire table in advance, but I would like to fill one.

Comment here if you wish to join us at the event and what Evil Title you think is appropriate for your walk, so I can assemble our protocol.

I would love to join y'all, but I've already got tickets to the SF Fetish Ball that night. How is it that the two are opposite each other; maybe I'm naive but I'd like to think there would be people interested in attending both.

There are such people.

Unfortunately, it's been my experience that very few people (*especially* in the kink communities) in San Francisco bother to check any other Bay Area group's calendar before scheduling events. The year of my stepdown, "Mama's Family" scheduled their annual Breast Cancer dinner the same night our Coronation.

And San Jose's Coronation is *always* two weeks after San Francisco Coronation, which these folks do schedule to avoid.

(Bitter much, you ask? Well maybe just a little)

Well I am not defending anyone but I do know Mamma and the Imperial family are not on the best terms right now (I can tell you more at YOUR coronation.

Also I totally forgot to metion or tell you Jose was not at coronation due to her going to the hospital. I did see her on Monday at our 96 hour meeting and she was looking better.

Also if anyone here does not want to drive we are planning on taking a bus down. I will post more here when I have the details.

Oh, I'm talking about 4 years ago. Remember how long I've known Mamma Reinhardt ;-) I *know* they had my trifolds in hand.

I also experienced this while planning events for the South Bay Leather/kink community.

The ICC, in general in my experience, is overall much more careful about checking calendars because it is so dependent on the networking bringing people to Coronations.

And we heard about Mama Jose from several people, so we were aware. Glad to hear she was doing better.

Also I forgot to add that your coronation is also on the same night as "Mr. Hayes Valley Leather" contest, at Marlena's.

Hopefully I will ahve more time to chat with you guys, also I have a few people I would like to introduce you too.

Oh and both of you need to come to the city more and hang out, LOL

Hmm. My nefarious plans for next weekend appear to have fallen through. What's an evil straight chick to do? (In other words, do you require another evil seat filled at your evil table? And what ever does one wear to one of these events?)

It's a "formal" event, but it's an odd sort of formal. In many ways it's like PEERS with regards to dress code: not clearly defined. Shiny is always good. Glitz and glitter are a big part of things.

The Dress would, of course, be appropriate.

The theme is "#3 Beekman Place" (Auntie Mame). There's a lot of flexibility there. Since the ending scene has Mame's apartment redecorated in Orientalia (Indian, actually). I would seriously consider The Dress with your hitatare top or the Tosenin kosode (if it's short enough) as a coat over it.

Oh, a warning. If this event is bad, it's kind of sitting through a bad court.

Hmmm, ideas are percolating as I take a break from hem-stitch.

Ooh, the RED kimono (you haven't seen it), worn open and trailing over The Dress. That would work.

Trains are good, there will be a lot of them, but I frankly find them impractical.

Where's the "smiley" at the end of that?

Of course.
