Ah, the best laid schemes...
We dined betwixt earth and sky
enfolded by clouds.
No overlord's view informs
the next sandbox city plan.

kproche: (Default)

Less rain this morning,
so I pore over our maps
plotting our sortie
into the blustery day
with grand engineering plans.

kproche: (Jungleboy Transparent)

Rain pelts my city
and the towering spires melt
into island mounds.
Tomorrow I shall simply
launch my fleet of motorboats!

by way of illustration... )

kproche: (Default)

No hard hat needed
To begin new construction
When our brand new trucks
Emerge from their packages
To trundle across the sand.

kproche: (Default)

Beautiful Oz girls
say "dump truck, steam shovel, and
bulldozer" this round.
With all three we can rebuild
Emerald City tonight!

kproche: (Default)

It's after midnight
and I haven't gone to sleep,
which means I can still
attempt to compose today's
sandbox and toy truck verses.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. :-)

kproche: (Default)

I dressed my dolls up
("action figures" if you must)
in wild crazy things.
How, I ask you, can one make
spandex look good on dump trucks?

kproche: (Default)

Strapped in a tin can
Flying to a northern land
I gain sympathy
for plastic paratroopers
tangled in neighborhood trees.

paratroopers? )

kproche: (Jungleboy Transparent)

If one truly finds
the world in a grain of sand
then universes
resound with every load
my truck adds to my castle.

kproche: (Jungleboy Transparent)

Tiny steam roller
so very effective at
flattening my roads --
I wonder how well you'd work
at rolling out my pie dough?

kproche: (Default)

With my steam shovel
I excavate basements
for the whole city.
And when barbarians come
it works as a catapult!

kproche: (Jungleboy Transparent)
This beautiful day
the city streets are empty.
They've gone to the beach
where the horde of tiny trucks
builds fantastic sand castles.
kproche: (Jungleboy Transparent)

It's opening night,
The dignitaries arrive
In their gleaming cars.
Of course, in my sandbox town
They are all yellow dump trucks.

kproche: (Jungleboy Transparent)

Puddles like oceans
Devour sandy skyscrapers
As April rains fall.
Come afternoon sun shining
They will rise beneath rainbows!

ETA: Ok, I know no rewrites, I know, but the fourth line is making my teeth ache.

A slightly different final couplet )

kproche: (Default)

Like metal ducklings,
tiny trucks follow large ones
down sandbox highways.
Do they see the Interstate
and dream of rolling down it?

kproche: (Default)

Gleaming wheels spinning,
Churning sand furiously,
The motorcycle
Hurtles across the abyss
Carved just now by my shovel.

kproche: (Default)

(This one doesn't actually count, since I wrote it this morning, but it's inspired on yesterday's 250 mile drive home from Redding)

Parade of box vans
Sporting varied liveries
Speed along the road.
Vultures atop the billboards
Ponder morsels zooming by.

kproche: (Default)

One scoop at a time
The aerial sand loader
Loads up the dump truck.
Just how many bucketfuls
Are in my backyard sandbox?

kproche: (Default)

Green plastic soldiers
Man miniature weapons
defending the town,
never suspecting the true
threat is the city's builder.
