Time for bed for this birthday boy.

Thanks to all my friends who offered lovely birthday wishes, to the gang who came to Spamalot, and to the cast and crew of Spamalot who also made a point of saying hi! and chatting with us.

more later. Bedtime now.

All the fabric came out of our stash.
My crown was made out of materials bought during the Liberacicus Mk II project.
My belt is from a reel of really beautiful trim I've been "saving" for a project for nearly 10 years.
Our group's "Lady of the Lake" costume was finished with more fabric and a couple of old jeweled pins from the stash.

I did have to buy the inkjet fabric to do the heraldry and the name labels for the backs.
We ([livejournal.com profile] bovil and I, and [livejournal.com profile] brittunculus and J.) bought some colored bias tape for our surcoats.

Most of the other surcoats, however, are edged with black bias tape that we had (unfolded) on a reel in our stash. One of Sunday's early chores was folding and pressing it.
(It turned out VERY narrow, and sewing it on proved to be the major bottleneck in the project. The final four surcoats were simply edged by loading a serger with black thread and doing a two-thread overlock on them. We'd all run out of the patience and coordination to feed the skinny bias tape through a machine properly any more).

'Bout time we did a costume from stash, and managing 20 of them is a good thing!

I've been diligently working on the coats of arms for the Knights of the Log Table.
ETA3:15pm -- added one more to the gallery.
Mathematical Heraldry under the cut. Don't look if you want to be surprised. )

A couple more to do, then I can print them so they have time to cure before assembly tomorrow.

They arrived today -- 24 tickets in a very nice block:

Row 8, seats 2-8 (even numbers)
Row 9, seats 2-20
Row 10, seats 2-20

Now we just have to figure out where the Birthday Boy is going to sit ;-)

At the BASFA meeting on the 31st, several of the folk attending Spamalot with me for my birthday ([livejournal.com profile] dprisoner and [livejournal.com profile] brittunculus, I'm looking at you, among others) expressed the strong opinion that as the Birthday Boy, I ought to be wearing a crown in our little costumed outing.

Now, my Imperial Crown would be both impractical (because of its weight) and discourteous to wear, given that it is some 15" tall.

Then, however, I remembered that I had bought self-adhesive glitter craft foam as emergency backup to build Liberacicus' silver laurel wreath.

I also had all my construction sketches from the Imperial Crown as a starting point.

Presenting the Crafty Crown of Sparkly-ness )

And best of all, I've already cleaned up the (small) mess in the studio now that's it done!

I finally connected with group sales at Broadway San Jose, and we now have 17 seats in a block in the center of rows 9 and 10 for September 15th.

They're still printing the pasteboard, so I can expect them in the mail in a week or so.

[livejournal.com profile] dprisoner, there are no prohibitions on audience members wearing costumes (I did promise no swords; but they'd be a hassle to deal with in theater seating anyway :-) ).

Further plotting will probably be done in friends-locked posts.

OK, I've placed and had confirmed an email order for 17 tickets ([livejournal.com profile] figmo, between the two of us we ought to be able to unload your ticket should it prove necessary).

Funds (*not credit*) are in place to pay for it; BSJ is calling me in the morning to finalize said payment. We'll sort out your payments to me once I've got our seats.

Further updates as I know more.

I will be calling Broadway San Jose after I eat lunch to order tickets

[livejournal.com profile] figmo 1?
Total16 (17?)

That's a total of 17 tickets, 19 if [livejournal.com profile] figmo and Julie's husband both want to come. 16 tickets, 17 if [livejournal.com profile] figmo is coming.

I need an answer on those ASAP so I can buy tickets. I'm not buying them on spec; if you say you want me to buy a ticket, I'm expecting you to pay me for it whether you can attend or not (not to suggest that any of you are deadbeats; I just want to be clear about the "maybe" tickets)
