Some highlight photos of the work completed this weekend (I have detail photos, but not time to write the descriptions yet).

I've packaged the touchscreen and Arduino controller in a nice box.
The silicone-sealed chiller-nozzle passed its leak test with flying colors today.
The support structure for the chiller nozzle and the glass platform are done.

In other news, I got Tiki Dalek Kraziness (TDK) repacked and prepped for shipping down to Gallifrey. We're sending him to a nearby FedEx office rather than paying the (to me) outrageous receiving ($5/box) and storage ($10/box) fees the hotel would ask. Those would double the cost of shipping him!

I've been working on refinements to the Tiki Dalek.

Several are designed to make him pack as more flat pieces (and thus be more shippable).

However, one of the critical lacks at Gallifrey when he was out conga-ing in the hallways was his inability to speak to the folks around him.

That has been fixed!

The voice modulator is not a perfect Dalek voice; I have plans for a better one. This is built using a hobby kit based on the WIN8072 IC, but had the advantage of coming with a pre-etched circuit board and all the necessary components for quick assembly.

TDK will debut with his new voice at Nova Albion this weekend (shhh)

Now that the show is over, I've unlocked the posts of the build diary for Secret Project TDK.

You can see them from start to finish (well, from finish to start; I don't know of a way to reverse the fact they'll display most recent first) using this link:

http://kproche.livejournal.com/tag/project%20tdk

Now I have to go back to finishing the article I'm writing for Yipe! about it.

I took TDK apart into his 3 main sections to finish up assorted details:

All that's left now is the soundtrack!

I trimmed down the upper part of the neck assembly tonight, and did a test assembly with leis as the neck rings. The struts still need to be finished, but I have time for that tomorrow night.

Here are the photos from today's project: the "gun box" that the ball-joint-mounted gun and plunger arm come out of.

Didn't get a lot done due to cold weather and intervening parties:-)

I've also hit a point where I need to use a drill press to finish a couple of things; I can do that in the "hack shop" at work on Tuesday.

Today was the first day of my week for working on TDK.

I did a couple runs for materials, and did a bit of work:

Today I took a pair of 4" redwood deck rail ball finials in to work, bored them throught the center and the parted the spheres off of the bases.

Tonight when I got home, I glued the parasols to the bamboo spacers, cut and drilled the Tiki torch and then assembled the gun.

I'm pretty pleased with the results.
