For the record, in case you have managed to miss it somehow:

I, Kevin Roche, am an out gay man, happily married (yes, legally married in the State of California) to my love of 12 years Andy (aka bovil).

I have worked for IBM Research in San Jose for 27 years, am out of the closet at work and engaged as a volunteer on a number of diversity programs there.

Everyone's situation is different. If you are not straight and can be out safely, I encourage you to take the chance. The more people who know someone who doesn't fit the heteronormative sexual stereotype, the less likely they are to treat us as dismissable objects.

In the Hostility Hospitality Suite the night before Costume-Con 16 started.

*Constitutionally inconvenient history, since we were legally wed June 23, 2008. That would be Anniversary₃. Anniversary₂ is May 25, 2005, when we married each other in the midst of our friends and family on Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz, California. :-)

bovil and I were legally wed in front of 48 people at the BASFA meeting tonight. There was much cheering.

Almost, but not quite as fast as the 11 second ceremony in SpaceBalls.

The BASFA rumor of the week had something to do with "married gay boys kissing"

Thanks to everyone who's been wishing bovil and me Happy Anniversary.

We actually tied the knot a day and a week and a year ago today, on May 26, 2005 (right before BayCon 2005).

I purchased a "Studio Mogul's" sponsorship package at Costume-Con 24, which included a reserved table for us and our guests, plus a bottle of bubbly. It was only Korbel, but it was fun to share and a great way to celebrate one year of wedded bliss.

And 8 years of being together.

It tasted even better when somebody brought me a chipotle-chocolate truffle. mmmmmmmm......
