I received official notice of my promotion to the next band on Monday.
So after 10 years of being a "Staff Engineer/Scientist" I am now an "Advisory Engineer/Scientist"... Yay!
(which has something to do with why, on the two days before my trip to Gaylaxicon, I was putting in 10-12 hour days trying to get a major automation software upgrade in place. Which kind of became moot late yesterday when one of the machine vision cameras necessary for the fully automated mode decided to throw up yesterday. Fortunately, one of the gang thinks he can reprogram the balky bit of pattern recogition in the camera. Assuming he succeeds, all the software I wrote -- some of it three times; there was one major crash before save, and complications due to to versions on disk taking turns loading, grrr -- will be up and available for them for the 6 days I'm gone)
