Lost my Razr.

Left it in a bag at the Agoura Hills McDonald's enroute home from Gallifrey. Discovered the missing bag when we stopped in Solvang for about 10 minutes.

No one answered it when we called it, but no one turned it in to the staff either.

Fortunately, I'd backed up the contents at least as recently as Further Confusion, and I pay the four bucks a month to cover replacing it.

However, it means no cell phone until I get said replacement.

Damn and Blast.

Being a new owner of a Razr, I'm curious. How do you back up the contents?

Nope.
There were about a hundred college kids who got off a bus while we were eating, the line went out the door. So we left without paying enough attention because of that and because they were pouring new sidewalks and we had to navigate on foot through the drive-through alley. It was all very chaotic, which is how I left the bag.

You buy Mobile Phone Tools (and the USB cable) from Motorola. Then you can backup the phone contents.

I'll have lost a few images that hadn't been downloaded yet, but they aren't anything special

Gotcha. I'll have to look into that. We didn't get the mobile phone tools. We're still slowly catching up to the revolution. :)

Are you the owner of a Verizon RAZR or another company's? I only ask because the Motorla tools may or may not work the same on the Verizon one (part of the reason for Verizon commissioning one was so that they could place their own restrictions on content transmission (that is to say "charge you for stuff")).

No fun. I don't think I could live without my cell.

Oh, and hey! :)

Cingular branded. I got it when they first started offering it, so it wasn't even SIM-locked; when we were in Glasgow last summer I just bought a local sim with 20 pounds worth of minutes on it and used it there. It was less expensive to check my Cingular voicemail long-distance via the local number than it would have been to pay the international roaming fees!

The replacement is enroute even now.

Actually, I was asking Jeff that question. :)

I just wanted to make sure that before he invested in the tools he could use them. I don't actually KNOW if Verizon has killed the tools completely or only partially, but I know that if he has Verizon he should check first.

Oops.

Chalk it up to butt-lag. (Well, how else do you describe the mental dysfunction resulting from the mind-numbingly long drive from LA to San Jose on only 5 hours sleep?)

It also works for 7 hours between St. Louis and Omaha. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about.

Mine's also Cingular. One of the fun things was getting the Star Wars "Imperial March" ringtone. Does get my attention...as well as everyone in the immediate vicinity.

I have the Thunderbirds March and the Austin Powers theme for most of my calls.

Well, had.

Fortunately, the Razr autoconverts Midi files to ringtone files. I just need to point the phone where I've tucked the files on my webserver and voila!

I hear the jetlag from CA to VA on similar sleep is pretty bad.

Me, I had.... well... a nice late morning rest. :)

Sorry to hear about the cell phone -- I'm really surprised I haven't yet lost mine along the way somewhere. Still, it's good that you made it back despite home safely despite the lack of sleep. My trip back was pretty uneventful too, other than the security line at LAX that stretched down the sidewalk half way to the next terminal, and a crick in my neck from sleeping wrong on the plane.
