I'm way behind on this journal, but I'm going to break up the work into chunks to save your sanity.

Here are the photos from today's project: the "gun box" that the ball-joint-mounted gun and plunger arm come out of.

Didn't get a lot done due to cold weather and intervening parties:-)

I've also hit a point where I need to use a drill press to finish a couple of things; I can do that in the "hack shop" at work on Tuesday.

Today I took a pair of 4" redwood deck rail ball finials in to work, bored them throught the center and the parted the spheres off of the bases.

Tonight when I got home, I glued the parasols to the bamboo spacers, cut and drilled the Tiki torch and then assembled the gun.

I'm pretty pleased with the results.

While I wait for the skirting to be delivered, I took a stab at preserving the paper parasols that will be used as accents in a couple of places. They're far too fragile in and of themselves, so I experimented by filling one with silicone sealant, and a second with a thin drizzle of Gorilla Glue (plus a spritz of water to trigger the foam/curing process). The silicone worked much better, so I proceeded with that.

Work on the Tiki Dalek proceeds apace. I'm waiting for the grass skirting to be delivered (the raffia should arrive tomorrow).
