[livejournal.com profile] bovil and I will be going to the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association - Bay Area Chapter "Best Buck in the Bay" Gay Rodeo and Festival (how's *that* for a mouthful? this weekend.

We'll be checking into the Jack Tar Cathedral Hill Hotel on Friday in time to attend the Sponsor's reception (we sponsor the prize buckles for Goat Dressing )

Anybody out there going, too?

(And yes, I will be packing the infamous Half-Naked Cowboy Hawaiian Shirt)

email me your cell # (or comment back and then delete the comment)

I'll can call you tomorrow night with more information, like whether they've got an official photographer or not, what the schedule is, and what areas we can get access to shoot from.

The entrants (who I care about making happy) are interested in quick turn-around and being able to see their runs that night (or at least Sunday night when we're all waiting for the awards ceremony to start). Art is secondary, a good record is what's important.

I shoot with my S3, and it's been for the most part adequate. Flag racing will really test your camera's continuous shooting mode. Last year I wasn't running my fastest shooting mode (which is still going to be slow compared to your camera) and I can't count the frames I tossed because the action all was between shots.

Cell phone has been sent via the Illuminati "contact us" page. The D-80 has a pretty good continuous shooting mode, especially if I dumb down the resolution. I could also bring my camcorder for the faster stuff, but I only have a 1-hour battery for that. Probably time to pick up another one...
