For those of you who don't know, Andy and I are tying the knot in a small ceremony on May 26.

And it has sunk in that we haven't found rings yet. (we have been looking off and on for a couple of years now, but we didn't have a deadline before)

We looked at the rings at Love and Pride, but the "male" rings are all a bit too precious, plus we hesitate to buy rings online when we can't touch/see/feel them anywhere in advance.
(We did rather like the looks of this Stainless and diamond ring and this pink gold band but, again, there is no storefront we can go to to touch/feel/try on)

Sooo.... do y'all have any suggestions?

(for those of you who are on the small guest list, yes, it looks like [livejournal.com profile] galtine1 did manage to reserve our beach of first choice for us! Paperwork in progress)

Rings

We got my set through Jewelry by Ponce`. John and Tony's crew were fantastic to work with. Most of their selection may look discouraging. They are willing to do custom work. My engagement ring and the band are not their standard stuff. The total for the set was obscenely affordable. Actually sparked an argument from Rick because he wanted to pay more for my set. If you email me I would be happy to tell you what the total for my set was. Details on my set: 14k, large amethyst, 15 small diamonds (not chips).

How did we find them? They were at Folsom. We had discovered the day before that my favorite jeweler had closed his business. I saw JbP's booth at the fair and thought "what the heck. It couldn't hurt to look".

Expensive, but gorgeous.

Also, check at Derco at Santana Row for beautiful rings at near wholesale prices--really nice place, really nice people.

Still pricey, though, eh?

I can't help you with rings, 'cause, err.... I wouldn't even be able to recommend a place with girl jewelry, much less boy jewelry. The last precious metal thing I started wearing, I made :) Go shop class!

But, congratulations if I've forgotten to tell you before :) *pokes* Let us know where you are registered, okay?

Have you checked the Shane Co.? They actually had some really nifty men's bands & a big selection, at least 5 years ago. Customer service was pretty good, even when we told them we both wanted engagement rings (not that we bought those there; just the wedding bands).

Congratulations in advance!!!

I must admit I like the stainless steel/diamond bit. But I know the feeling on the whole "I wanna personally examine it before I even think of buying it online" thing.

Congrats in advance though! :) I'll have to bring you two a present at BayCon :D

Nothing about jewelry except if you know someone who is doing college level metalwork classes you can often get very nice 'one of' design work.

Congratulations. May you both be very, very happy.

Right before BayCon on a Thursday!??!

Do you still need a photographer? :-) If you have an official one, may be I can take the "artsy" B&W documentary type of photos. Let me know!!

As for rings... hmm... can't help ya. We haven't worn ours for many many years....

Yup, because we're the Fan GOHs and thus many of our wedding guests will be coming to the area anyway. (See, I'm not a lunatic, I just play one on TV)

We don't have a photographer yet unless Andy found one when I wasn't looking ;-)

Oh yes, of course.

I would be very honored to do your photos if needed.

Another ring maker

IIRC, Arlin Robins still does commissions.

Though I think she does need more then 6 weeks lead time.

Mark-no-longer-my-boss has a favorite jeweler in SF -- I don't know his name, but he does gorgeous work.

We found a shop in Los Altos and one in Los Gatos that carry several of the mokume-gane artists' work... So we're going shopping next week!
