Today I almost finished my sailor pants, aka fall-front bell-bottomed trousers.

I have two things left to do -- hem them, and adjust the placement of the waistband buttons/buttonholes. It turns out where it looked like they should go makes the pants altogether too tight, even with the rear lacing let out.

I have to move the center waistband buttons and extend the buttonholes. It's a little too tight at the moment, even with the back laces all the way loose

Thanks!

I moved the buttons (and made another pair of buttonholes!) but they're still snug in the waist. Finally realized it's probably the fold for the eyelets in the rear inset... my smallest eyelets were actually too wide. Simple solution is to slash the inset and topstitch in an extension to it.
