[livejournal.com profile] bovil and I are hoping to RV-camp at this year's Bay Area Gay Rodeo, being held August 13-15 at Driscoll Ranch.

El Monte RV rental was recommended to us, but their quoted rate was over 800 bucks.

Anyone have any other recommendations? Or have a Class C RV they'd be willing to loan us for a weekend?

If not, we may knuckle down and tent-camp. I just like the idea of having the kitchenette. Plus a real-ish bed.

That actually sounds about what I'd expect for an RV rental. Granted, I haven't booked one for anyone in a long time, but they don't tend to come cheap.

I discovered air mattresses last year. They're not your kid-remembered air mattress, they're really good.

You can make them up like real beds even in a tent, and they come in standard mattress sizes (twin through king). I used one at home for awhile and I'm not going camping without one again. In fact, my current borrowed "real" bed is not as comfortable.

They'd also be good for replacing the often thin lumpy mattress in an RV.

Oh, I know. We have a very good airbed.
There's also the "rolling party suite" aspect that we like.

Plus the ability to have a private shower after, well, private activities (the tent-camping will have showers available, but you have to cross the campground to get to them).

Yes, there are huge advantages to having the RV. I just couldn't help with that. :)
