GLAAD Media Awards 2006

As many of you may know, bovil and I have been attending the GLAAD Media Awards Banquet in San Francisco since the first one. The last two years we've hosted a table.

This year's banquet is Saturday, June 10, 2006. However, bovil and I *also* want to attend Gaylaxicon 2006, which is in Toronto the following weekend.

So what's the big deal? Well, I can't afford to buy an entire table at the awards and attend Gaylaxicon both.

I could *host* a table if other folks want to buy seats at it.

We're starting to make plans now, so comment on whether you'd be interested in doing it that way...

Gah! I just looked. They've jacked up the prices this year (General used to be $100):

Ticket Types

General - $275.00

Ticket includes entrance to the Cocktail Reception, Auction, Dinner and Show.

VIP - $375.00

Tickets include Priority Seating, VIP Gift Bag and entrance to the Cocktail Reception, Auction, Dinner, Show and VIP Celebrity After Party.

Sponsor VIP - $1000.00

Tickets include most Preferred Seating, VIP Gift Bag, and entrance to the Cocktail Reception, Auction, Dinner, Show and VIP Celebrity After Party

Patron VIP - $1500.00

Tickets include most Preferred Seating, VIP Gift Bag, and entrance to the Cocktail Reception, Auction, Dinner, Show and VIP Celebrity After Party.

I will note that the Cocktail reception (and silent auction) is an open bar, and the dinner itself is usually superb.

Hmmm... a bit rich for my taste, but my household income IS about to get a shot in the arm. What's the deadline for committing to the purchase?

I think they arrogate the right to start assigning people to your table about a month out.

We have to reassess the cost ourselves, now that I've looked it up. :-)

Keep me posted about your plans, as I rather like the idea of buying myself a moderately glam night out. I might just be able to save up the pennies, if I forgo my usual indulgences for a few months (or sell a corset or two!)
