The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about. - Oscar Wilde.

Here at the Retro Dome we like being talked about. Whether it's here on LiveJournal, or FaceBook, Twitter, Google+, Yelp or any of the other social media sites. Even better is if you talk us up to your friends, family, and co-workers when you're face to face (or even on the telephone).

The point here is talk about us. Tell everyone what you like about us, and - in the interest of fairness - tell them (and more importantly us) what you don't like about us. Just talk about us. With all the mega-plexes and big-budget theatre companies out there, the smaller organizations - like us - need word of mouth to keep alive.

aka the Internet Archive to download inflight entertainment from the archive of the Moving Image...

Currently have a bit more than half of a Tales of Tomorrow episode on the harddrive.

Have Phantom From Space, The Amazing Transparent Man, and Planet Outlaws cued up too.

Our flight home from Westercon boards in about half an hour... think I'm going to switch to the lower data rate versoins, since I'll be watching on the iPod anyway.

It occurs to me to ask:

Why isn't there a "slash" setting on the subtitles menu for the DVD?

(you knows you wants it, you really do ...)

I was looking for video to put on the iPod [livejournal.com profile] bovil gave me for my birthday, and discovered:
the Internet Archive of feature films

This is just one small piece of a much larger archive, with lots of films, etc. that are in the public domain and available for free download.
The cool part is they've already been converted to MP4 files, which is what my iPod wants. They'll also play in QuickTime or several other desktop media viewers.

I just thought I'd spread the joy!

[livejournal.com profile] bovil and I are off to Las Vegas in the morning to celebrate my in-laws 40th anniversary, so I expect we'll be almost entirely offline until Monday night. Be Seein' Ya!
