Or the next best thing.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] smashwolf has put a couple of Really Big digital projectors (one 10,000 lumens, one 6,000 lumens) up for sale on eBay.

One of them is the one used for the famous "Dive-in movies" projected on the side of the DoubleTree San Jose Hotel above the swimming pool at BayCons past.

Check 'em out. They're in great working order, and it's a really good price.

you may have read [livejournal.com profile] bovil's entries about his adventures with the used Stylistic 3500 tablet PC he bought on eBay.

Saturday we met with the woman who had advertised a more expensive unit on Craigslist.

I succumbed.

And am now the happy owner of a Fujitsu Stylistic 5010D slate (tablet) PC. It's very shiny, and, amazingly, can even read my longhand fairly accurately!

1GHz Pentium M processor, 36OMHz bus, half a gig of RAM, dock with CD-ROM, built-in A/B/G wireless, running XP Tablet PC edition. Andy tells me that the IR keyboard for his 3500 works just fine with it, too!

I've got spare digitizing pens and an IFrogz screen protector on order for it already. (Next thing to do is install CorelDraw to try my favorite drawing software with digital ink)

On Friday, he told me that only part of my birthday present had arrived yet. It was a set of these three Space Teddy Bears from NASA. Way Cool!

So yesterday, there was this little brown cardboard shipping box sitting on the Ottoman That Ate Manhattan when I got home. It, of course, turned out to be the next part of my present: an 80GB Video iPod!

The next bit (still to come) is case for said iPod.

So thanks again, my love! I was really surprised and pleased!

Smooch!
