Lay off of Costume-Con.org's ONLY volunteer. She can only publish what all the different groups that put on all the different Costume-Cons give her, and the fracking World Wide Web DIDN'T EXIST when we started putting on Costume-Con.

The Costume-Con web archives are in FAR BETTER SHAPE than the WorldCon web photo archives. Oh, wait -- there is no single WWW WorldCon photo archive, because every single WorldCon is put on by a different group.

If you want to see it better, help me finish the database engine to rebuild it.

Rant done.

Remember what the CC archivist's life has been like for the last year, between the ICG board/newsletter issues and basic RL stuff with having a baby in the house and a very rambunctious something-year-old.

And last April, we thought we were a month or so from having my db system up and running, so it made sense to wait.

And then life just got more and more nuts for both she and I. I dropped the ball on getting the db up and running, and she's had a box of archive stuff and no time and energy to convert and add it.

I want to step up and do something to alleviate the problem; I just cc'd you on a note to her regarding upgrading the photo archives; that is step one. Much of the data we need to preserve can be added to the gallery db for the photos in a way that can be accessed by the main db system later.

Actually, no, I have NOT been able to remember stuff of which I was not fully aware of in the first place. I can't recall ever meeting or speaking with her, which would cement such things a lot more in my mind. In fact I had forgotten that the Costume-con.org webmistress / Betsy D. were the same person.

(Trading stories, I do know what it's like to have new baby and a rambunctious 3-year-old and a twice-a-day 1hr roundtrip commute to a 4hr pre-school (had to go home & work while kid was there), and be working on building the original ImageCraft website while battling serious post-partum depression all at once.)

But she's quite free to snag that source of that page and post it up - the costume-con.org links all work too, as I gave them the full URL.
